What is Sheetkari Pranayama?
Sheetkari Pranayama is a breathing technique in which the air is drawn in through the mouth, with the teeth lightly closed and the tongue against the roof of the mouth, creating a hissing sound, and then the breath is retained briefly before exhaling through the nose. This pranayama is similar to Sheetali Pranayama, but instead of curling the tongue, one hisses with the teeth closed, which creates a cooling effect on the body and helps to calm the mind. It can also help to reduce stress, anxiety, and anger, as well as regulate the body’s temperature. However, it may not be suitable for those with dental issues or jaw pain.
