1. HISTORY & ORIGIN

The name Rādhā comes from the Sanskrit root radh, meaning “to worship,” “to adore,” or “to serve with devotion.” Thus, Rādhā literally means “one who worships and loves the Divine completely.”

Scriptural Mentions

  • In the Brahma Vaivarta Purāṇa, Rādhā is described as the Supreme Shakti (energy) of Krishna — inseparable from Him, just as fragrance is from a flower.
  • In the Padma Purāṇa and Garga Samhita, She is declared the source of all goddesses, the Hlādinī Śakti – the power of divine bliss in creation.
  • The Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition (founded by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) emphasizes Rādhā as the highest embodiment of bhakti, pure unconditional love for God.
  • The sound Svāhā at the end of the mantra is a Vedic offering word, symbolizing complete surrender — the act of offering oneself into divine love.

Thus, this mantra has Vedic roots (through Om and Svāhā) and Bhakti-Tantric essence (through Śrī Rādhāyai).
