What Does Namaste or Namaskar Mean?
Namaste (नमस्ते) and Namaskar (नमस्कार) are traditional Indian greetings that carry deep spiritual and cultural significance. These words are commonly used in India, Nepal, and other South Asian countries to show respect, humility, and gratitude when greeting someone.
Meaning of Namaste & Namaskar
Namaste is derived from Sanskrit:
“Namaḥ” (नमः) = Bow / Salutation
“Te” (ते) = To You
Namaste = “I bow to you.”
Namaskar is a slightly more formal version of Namaste, meaning “I pay my respects to you.”
Spiritual Meaning of Namaste
In yoga and spiritual traditions, Namaste is more than just a greeting. It symbolizes:
Respect for the divine soul in another person.
Acknowledgment that we are all connected.
Expression of peace, kindness, and goodwill.
A deeper interpretation is:

How to Perform Namaste?
1️⃣ Join your palms together in front of your chest (Anjali Mudra).
2️⃣ Slightly bow your head as a sign of respect.
3️⃣ Greet the person by saying “Namaste” or “Namaskar.”
This gesture represents oneness, humility, and harmony.
When to Use Namaste?
