What is Akanāṉūṟu?
Akananuru is a classical Tamil anthology of four hundred poems, belonging to the Sangam literature, and is one of the eight anthologies of the Sangam literature. It is believed to have been composed between the 3rd century BCE to the 3rd century CE, and it contains poems written by various authors, mostly anonymous. The poems in Akananuru are about the themes of love, war, nature, and ethics, and provide insights into the social, cultural, and political life of ancient Tamil society.
