How many nadis are their in the human body?

  • According to traditional yogic texts, there are believed to be 72,000 nadis (energy channels) in the human body. However, in practical terms, there are three main nadis that are considered the most important: Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna.
  • Ida nadi is associated with the feminine energy (Shakti) and the moon, and is located on the left side of the spine. Pingala nadi is associated with the masculine energy (Shiva) and the sun, and is located on the right side of the spine. Sushumna nadi runs through the center of the spine and is considered the most important nadi, as it is associated with the awakening of Kundalini energy.
  • The practice of pranayama (breathing exercises) and asanas (yoga postures) is believed to activate and balance the flow of energy through these nadis, helping to bring about physical, mental, and spiritual balance and harmony.
