Yoga for Cervical Spondylosis
Definition
Disc degeneration with associated osteophyte formation and osteoarthritis of the spinal apophyseal joints collectively termed cervical spondylosis.

Causes
- Age – related.
- Reduction in the molecular size of the proteoglycans of the nucleus pulposus is associated with loss of viscoelastic properties.
- Increased load – bearing by the annulus is followed by focal damage and disc herniation in some cases.
- Simultaeneously, the development of osteoarthritic changes in the spinal apophyseal joints leads to increase in sheer stress and disc damage with cleft formation and Osteophyte formation around the vertebral margins.
- Combination of disc-prolapse and osteophytosis can result in direct nerve root compression and indirect ischaemic neuronal damage.

Clinical Features
- Nagging and sever pain which may spread over both sides of shoulders, back side of the neck, the collar bone and head region.
- In some cares pain may occur in both the arms and fingers.
- Stiffeners may be acute or chronic. It may lead to either partial or complete restricted movements.
- Numbers and tingling or complete loss of sensation on the affected side.
- Headache
- Giddiness
