What is Svashisthana Chakra?
- Svadhisthana Chakra, also known as the sacral chakra, is the second primary chakra in the human body according to Hindu Tantrism. It is associated with the water element, and its name means “one’s own abode” in Sanskrit. The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel and is often depicted as an orange or amber-colored lotus with six petals.
- The sacral chakra is associated with emotions, creativity, sensuality, and sexuality. It governs the reproductive system, kidneys, bladder, and adrenal glands. When the sacral chakra is balanced, it enables one to experience pleasure, joy, and emotional depth. It is also associated with the ability to connect with others, express oneself creatively, and experience a sense of passion and vitality.
- An imbalanced sacral chakra can result in a lack of creativity, fear of change, emotional instability, and difficulty in expressing one’s emotions. It can also lead to addiction, sexual dysfunction, and low self-esteem. To balance the sacral chakra, one can practice yoga poses that focus on the hips and lower abdomen, meditation, and visualization techniques, and incorporate orange or amber-colored foods and gemstones into their diet and environment.
