What is 3 Granthis and how to overcome it

  • In yogic philosophy, granthis are the psychic knots or blockages in the body that hinder the free flow of energy. There are three granthis, namely Brahma granthi, Vishnu granthi, and Rudra granthi, which are located in the three energy centers or chakras of the body. These granthis prevent the energy from flowing freely through the channels, causing physical and mental blockages.
  • Brahma Granthi: This granthi is located at the base of the spine in the Muladhara chakra. It is associated with the earth element and is linked to survival instincts and physical desires. When this granthi is blocked, it can lead to fear, anxiety, and a sense of insecurity.
  • To overcome Brahma granthi, one can practice grounding and stabilizing asanas such as Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I), and Vrksasana (Tree Pose). Practicing pranayama techniques such as Ujjayi and Kapalabhati can also help to activate the Muladhara chakra.
  • Vishnu Granthi: This granthi is located in the heart chakra or Anahata chakra. It is associated with the air element and is linked to emotions and relationships. When this granthi is blocked, it can lead to feelings of grief, sadness, and loneliness.
  • To overcome Vishnu granthi, one can practice heart-opening asanas such as Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), Ustrasana (Camel Pose), and Setu Bandha Sarvangasana (Bridge Pose). Practicing pranayama techniques such as Anulom Vilom and Bhramari can also help to activate the Anahata chakra.
  • Rudra Granthi: This granthi is located in the third eye chakra or Ajna chakra. It is associated with the ether element and is linked to intuition and higher consciousness. When this granthi is blocked, it can lead to confusion, lack of clarity, and inability to make decisions.
  • To overcome Rudra granthi, one can practice asanas such as Balasana (Child’s Pose), Shashankasana (Rabbit Pose), and Padmasana (Lotus Pose). Practicing pranayama techniques such as Nadi Shodhana and Brahmari can also help to activate the Ajna chakra. Meditation and visualization techniques can also be helpful in clearing this granthi.
