Does Yoga Reduces Tension Type Headache Symptoms?
Several studies suggest that yoga may be an effective complementary therapy for reducing tension-type headache symptoms. For example, a 2017 systematic review and meta-analysis of nine randomized controlled trials found that yoga was associated with significant improvements in headache frequency, duration, and intensity compared to no intervention or other treatments. The review authors noted that the exact mechanisms by which yoga may reduce headache symptoms are unclear, but that it may be related to its effects on stress, muscle tension, and the autonomic nervous system. However, more research is needed to fully understand the effects of yoga on tension-type headache symptoms.
